APS (Akademische Prüfstelle)

German: Akademische Prüfstelle

Reviewed by Sajid ur RehmanLast updated 20 July 2026

APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) is an office that verifies applicants' academic documents before they apply to German universities. It is mandatory for applicants from some countries — notably India — but not all. Pakistan and Bangladesh have no APS office, and an Ausbildung never requires APS because APS covers university admission only.

Why it matters for applicants from Pakistan, India & Bangladesh

Indian students must budget time and fees for APS before applying. Pakistani and Bangladeshi students often waste weeks looking for an APS office that doesn't exist — their documents are verified through attestation and uni-assist instead.
